Jurgen Klopp’s Secret Liverpool Plan to Beat Mikel Arteta 4-0 Like Last Season Leaked as Arsenal Fans are Shaken.
Jurgen Klopp should have been apprehensive at the prospect of facing the Premier League’s top team after Liverpool matched its longest winless streak in over five years.
However, shortly after Tuesday’s scoreless draw at Chelsea, the Reds manager was enthusiastic about Arsenal’s Sunday afternoon visit.
“I’m really looking forward to this game now,” said Klopp. “Arsenal are flying and in incredible shape and playing super football, it’s really good to watch as well. But we are there, it’s a home game, and our home record is not as bad as our away record. If we are difficult to beat against Arsenal, we can win this game.”
Klopp does not emphasize the disparity between Liverpool’s home record and away performance without good reason. Only Arsenal, Manchester City, and Manchester United have earned more points at home than Liverpool, who have played fewer home games.
Away, however, Liverpool has collected the same number of points (12 in 15 games) as rock-bottom Southampton and a staggering 21 fewer than Arsenal.
This partially explains why they are a staggering 29 points behind a Gunners team that they were 23 points ahead of last season.
Anfield has been somewhat of a safe haven for Liverpool in the Premier League this season, even if their dominance is not as strong as it has been in recent years. However, the 2-1 loss to Leeds in late October is the only time in nearly six years that they have lost a home Premier League match in front of their fans.
Manchester City and Newcastle United have both lost this season, while Bournemouth’s 9-0 drubbing equals the largest victory in Premier League history. Obviously, Manchester United was defeated in a record-setting 7-0 victory.
More than a month has passed since the last time Liverpool played at Anfield. This season, the Reds have played fewer home games than any other team in the Premier League. However, they will play six of their next ten games at Anfield.
In fact, since the season resumed after the World Cup, 13 of Klopp’s team’s 20 games have been played on the road. Liverpool have only won seven times during this span.
Since September 2012, Arsenal has not won at Anfield in the Premier League. This is a terrible record. Since then, Liverpool has scored 37 times in this matchup.
