Star Midfielder is Out of the Game – Arsenal are having one of their best seasons in the Premier League in years and are currently leading the title race against Manchester City, with only a few months left in the campaign and a five-point lead over their rivals.
Mikel Arteta will require all the help he can get to ensure his team can maintain their lead.
In their most recent game against Bournemouth, Arsenal found themselves a goal down just nine seconds in, and fell further behind by the hour mark.
However, Ben White and Thomas Partey scored to level the match. The game looked set to end in a draw, but Arsenal managed to secure a win in the 97th minute with a goal from Reiss Nelson, causing immense excitement among the fans at the Emirates Stadium.
It is these narrow victories that seem to be giving Arsenal an advantage, and they may need more such victories to secure the title in May.
Following a challenging draw against Sporting CP in the Europa League on Thursday, Arsenal’s focus is now on the Premier League and their upcoming match against local rivals, Fulham, on Sunday. Fulham has been performing well this season and could pose a significant challenge for the Gunners.
Nonetheless, Arteta’s team may have an advantage going into the game as Marco Silva will be without one of his crucial players. Joao Palhinha will not feature in the match after receiving his tenth booking of the season against Wolves a few weeks ago.
As a result of his tenth booking, Palhinha will be unavailable for two matches, the first of which was the 3-2 loss to Brentford on Monday night.
