What games could Leandro Trossard miss due to groin injury?
LONDON, ENGLAND - MARCH 04: Leandro Trossard of Arsenal receives medical treatment during the Premier League match between Arsenal FC and AFC Bournemouth at Emirates Stadium on March 04, 2023 in London, England.
Leandro Trossard has proven to be an astute addition to the Arsenal squad, but the Belgian was dealt an injury setback on Saturday against Bournemouth.
The Gunners were 1-0 down when Trossard was forced off midway through the first half and replaced by Emile Smith Rowe.
The Belgian once again led the line for the Premier League leaders with Eddie Nketiah nursing an ankle injury, but his outing was cut short.
Mikel Arteta’s deployment of Trossard in a fluid central position has reignited Arsenal’s attack, but they staged their remarkable comeback without him on Saturday as they fought back from two behind to win 3-2 at the death.
And while Trossard’s injury was forgotten amid all the ecstasy, Arteta will not want to be without the January arrival for too long.
What injury did Leandro Trossard pick up against Bournemouth?
The former Brighton forward limped off after 22 minutes against the Cherries with a groin injury.
What has Mikel Arteta said about Leandro Trossard’s injury?
Arteta expressed his concern about the injury post-match: “It is a worry. He came to me straight away and told me he could not continue because he’d felt something when he was tracking back after the corner. We have to assess him and see how he is.”
What games could Leandro Trossard miss?
Thankfully, the initial assessment was positive according to the Evening Standard’s Simon Collings and Trossard could return to action before the international break.
While he almost certainly won’t feature against Sporting CP in Arsenal’s Europa League round of 16 first leg on Thursday, he could return to the matchday squad against Fulham next Sunday.
However, a swift comeback isn’t guaranteed and with the Gunners playing four games in ten days before the break, Arteta will not want to rush the Belgian back
